Ever been to Somalia? Over there, only 2 out of every 1000 people own cars and in 2011 they had 142 traffic fatalities.

We know what we in the USA feel about cars! I'm getting a stiffy here... 812 people out of 1000 own cars here and we had 32,310 traffic fatalities in 2011.

Ergo: If Britain doesn't allow guns and has very few murders so we should do the same, then since Somalia has so many fewer traffic fatalities, we should pass laws limiting car ownership in the USA to only 2 out of every 1000 people. How many of you are going to volunteer to be among those who can't own a car because some idiots go out and drive too fast, carelessly, or impaired?

More and more laws against guns are not going to bring the statistics in the USA in line with other countries with stricter gun ownership laws. With the rise of 3D printers, people are going to be able to print out a 60 capacity magazine on their own without having to go and buy it anywhere in the first place.

I have friends who are machinests who can make their own guns pretty easily with tools in their workshop, and it isn't all that hard. A gun is a pretty simple device at its core.

The laws MAY stop some of the violence, but when you have people planning out attacks for a year or more, they're going to figure out how to get what they need regardless of the laws that are out there, or change their method of attack. They'll be using a bomb or even just taking gallons of gas, dousing people and setting them on fire. I guess we will then call for gas can control laws to limit the ability to buy any can with more than a 1 gallon capacity, or smaller than whatever the capacity of the can used in the latest attack was.

It's the attitude of the people committing these crimes that is the problem, and there are WAY too many guns out there already for more laws than we already have on the books to make much of a difference, if they make any difference at all.

Again, I don't own or like guns, so I have no personal stake in guns being easier or more difficult to obtain.
