    for the actual job, either. It's kind of high-pressure, if you take it seriously.
    But the title, the office, the deference, the Secret Service, AF1 and that cool helicopter, state dinners, those kinds of things must have sounded good.

      You have it exactly right. He wanted the title, power and status. He didn't want to have to campaign and he didn't want to do the actual job.

      It was the same here in Massachusetts. He wanted the title of governor as a stepping stone. He had no interest in doing the job. Although he clearly ran a better campaign for Mass governor than he did for president. Since he was a blank political slate then, people were willing to believe he was moderate based on his statements, family, etc. Hope that legacy will help defeat Scott Brown yet again in our next Senate election (have pity on us...) "Scott Brown is a Romney Republican."
