    about polygamy- as long as the parties concerned are consenting adults (here are your limits), who are we to tell them they're wrong?

      The only "problem" that I can see is that marriage defines a large number of exclusive rights. Extending those to a group becomes a bit awkward (much as it sometimes is for an individual...).

      It strikes me that a lot of those would need to be negotiated, and that a contract would be the appropriate article for doing so. Then again, a lot of things are typically negotiated less formally in existing marriages, but things like children's wardship, &c, would probably be demanded/required by the state.
