  •  Considering that some of the activities (0+ / 0-)

    associated with OWS were illegal, even if non-violent, it's not surprising or out of line in my view that the FBI would investigate. I just skimmed through the document. Much of it seems to primarily reflect information sharing among law enforcement agencies. Some of the concerns are legitimate, and some responses seem reasonable. I did see at least one report of a violent incident directed against an Occupy group.

    However, there does seem to be a certain amount of fear, and a mix of accurate information, rumor, speculation, and inaccuracy, and conflation of different groups with varying agendas. Parts of the document don't give me a lot of confidence in the intelligence, professionalism, or competence of law enforcement investigations, and it's easy to see how some agencies could over-react. And some of the monitoring activities seem unnecessarily intrusive.
