  •  Bravo to Michael for examining the WHOLE issue! (4+ / 0-)

It's very rare when reading political posts to see an argument presented in a very straightforward, analytical way. Michael made sure in presenting his argument to bring out such points as Connecticut having some of the strictest gun laws in the nation. That's a very important point because if even in Connecticut this kind of unspeakable tragedy can occur, then the problem is NOT with having a lot of gun laws on the books but addressing the gun/mass murder illness at its source. We Americans are not very good at doing that. We are a culture of ME and a culture of violence. And until we rearrange our social psyche and perception of violence against our fellow citizens, the problem will never be eradicated. This whole ME thing indicates that we are not an empathetic people. Yet, we try to push that image in the international forum.

So let's stop fooling ourselves. Let's quit being so egocentric, fearful, and paranoid. It's time to start placing common sense as the first order of the day. Thank you, Michael, for a wel-presented argument.
