  •  I definitely connect with #2 (12+ / 0-)

"wish I hadn't worked so hard."  I'm a single mom, so I had to work hard to make enough to support myself and my son - or so I believed.  Can't say for sure one way or another, but an auto accident with lasting consequences has now forced me to work less hours.  This in turn has allowed me to pick up my son when school is out and having the option of allowing him to participate in sports, etc., since I can now drive to/from.

I sincerely regret having had him in after school care through much of his primary education.  He's not scarred for life or anything over it, but he never really enjoyed it either.  Too regimented, days lasting too long for a little kid, etc.

I have less than 4 years until he graduates from high school and probably leaves for college - so I'm going to try to focus on opportunities to spend time together while I still can.  Life is short, and childhood flies by.  I can definitely relate to the regret of not spending more time with your children when they were young.
