    to save their loved ones the pain. Or sometimes they need the solitude to let go. Sounds like your wife wanted you to be enjoying yourself somewhere else, as bizzare as that sounds. You did exactly as she asked. No regret necessary. The hard part seems to be that you wanted to be there with her. I know that feeling and I'm sorry you missed that moment with her. But, know that you did what she asked. I work with hospice patients and everyone is a little different. Mostly, we die the way we have lived. The book this diary refers to is a really good study in what we imperfect humans value when all else has been surrendered. Peace to you
