The lists are public records. There's a reason for that.

Honestly, I'm pleased by this. I have childhood friends who were "accidentally" shot while visiting their friends' houses. Their parents never would have allowed them to visit their friends' houses had they known there were guns inside. Kids love to show off to their friends. Just because they're kids, others get hurt or, less frequently, killed.

So I sure would like to know that my kid's friend's parent probably has guns in the house. My kid wouldn't be going there any more.

I know people who were murdered by someone who had access to their friends' or relatives' guns, even when they were locked up and assumed to be "safe". Three separate incidents, in fact.

I've had members of my own family seriously injured by a lunatic with a goddamn gun. Four family members, in fact.

I've had a gun pointed at my head by three different idiots who were not police officers or otherwise reasonably authorized. One moran  pulled a gun in the presence of my wife and kids. All because I stopped my overheated car near his goddamn house.

I've gone deer hunting exactly once in my life. Two different so-called hunters, drunk as hell, heard me crunching along a path and decided to swing around and draw a bead on me. Bright orange everything, but these idiots weren't concerned. Thank FSM that nobody pulled a trigger. I was down face first in the muddy muck. Twice. So were my hunting pals. The three of us were, at the time, members of a competitive rifle team and qualified marksmen and safety instructors. We weren't kind to those idiots. We turned them in and they were arrested.

    Never again.

I'm convinced that at least 10% of all gun-toters are, by nature and temperament, oblivious to the danger they pose to others. That's not what's important to them, They're so afraid of others that they MUST protect themselves from their imaginary fears. Their irrational fears are more important than our rational fears, apparently.

I no longer own any deadly weapons. Period.

    Fear is the overarching problem.

    Guns make irrational fears deadly.
