Shinseki, along with those he brought into the administration and with help from the executive branch and cabinet have accomplished tons, first one that has in my lifetime, Cleland tried but was blocked by the teabags back then, the rest were political tools of the party they were under and the country loves that, hurrah for wars of choice, f' the vets of!!

Apparently ya didn't get my point above as to whom's responsibility the VA is!

    •  No, I got your point. (0+ / 0-)

Sorry, I really wasn't arguing against you - guess I wasn't clear.  I'm just thinking there's more to the story.

Here's the thing:  Yes, Shinseki has done good things.  But problems at the VA stop at his desk.  While the VA takes upwards of two years to process claims, veterans are in limbo.  In many cases, they're unemployed - often unemployable - and have no easy access to health care.

A good part of the problem is funding, yes.  The rest of it is leadership and management.  The entire Federal government, with the current notable exception of DoD proper, are undergoing severe belt-tightening right now.  Elimination of duplicative programs, ruthless reviews of cherished programs, reprioritizing remaining programs, all of that is needed just to survive.  The VA is no exception.

While I absolutely agree that Congress should be ashamed of themselves for how they've (mis)handled the VA - and in particular about attempts to privatize it - the point I meant to make is that VA leadership needs to realize it's time to refocus their own energies.  Things are not getting better anytime soon, maybe 2015 at the earliest.  Maybe.  Their reality for the forseeable future is austerity.  It ain't right, by any lights.  But it's what is.

You're following the meme's fed for decades by them early teabags right to the present!!!

Stop at his desk yes, but they've been around forever as nothing was done, thanks to congress and the people served just plain lovin that, and you like them are layin 'em on Shinseki who frankly has been clearing up plenty of them!!

Your attempt at the point is what gets me pissed, it isn't the VA it's the country that continues to ignore but boy howdy just loves them 'rambo patriotic wars' and how tough they are, which brings us into the gun happy fetishes needs to full fill and the more militaristic the weapon the better them needs are full filled!!

        stop at his desk
That's why the country, same ole same ole, including the pro peace coalitions quickly walked away from demanding accountability for everything done under the previous! Everything landed on the present's desk, so the wars and economy is all his as the previous group walked into the sunset sittin damn pretty with what they and their buds made, and many consider them statesmen and women!!
