      way possible. Altruism? Why pursue that if there's no arc of justice in the universe? Better to just say fuck everyone else and live in the most selfish way possible. Normally its a Straw Man when Theists accuse Nontheists of this, but in Ayn Rand's case she was proud of it. Serial Killer that dismembers little girls, you say? What a rugged individualist übermensch!

      Max Weber linked capitalism in Europe (and by extension, the US) to Calvanistic predetermination and the Protestant Work Ethic, where people were careful not to waste money, save it, invest it, and that economic prosperity reassured people that they were favored by god.

      So, to Weber, capitalism grew(?) out of this Christian philosophic base and this religious superstructure determined the infrastructure, the economics of capitalism.
