  •  No surprise here (9+ / 0-)

When Randi Weingartner is allowed on TV it's purely for the opportunity to make her a figure of fun. And somebody has to be the hatchet man. For some strange reason, Tim Russert has accepted that charge.

It takes a truly anti-social individual to plan and execute the kind of rhetorical ambush you describe. Fortunately this kind of program is not watched by anyone at this time of year. It's the seasonal programming equivalent of restaurant attendance on April 15th (historically the worst for business).

    •  Randi Weingartner is almost unfailingly polite (17+ / 0-)

to these cretins when they go after teacher pensions.

I really wish she would just start dressing them down when they suggest anything ridiculous like teachers have "million dollar" pensions, or that they should give them up---just like all the people in the private sector who have already been screwed over by companies like Bain.  I know she corrects them with the $24,000 figure, but she really needs to ask them where they get their information, how factually wrong it is, and how they're not doing their jobs as journalists if they're spreading that kind of information.

Why do people put up with these bobbleheads like Russert Junior?  They are just not worthy of pretending like they're asking rational questions. They need to be publicly embarrassed a little more about their failings.

If the plutocrats begin the program, we will end it. -- Eugene Debs.

      •  We don't have a choice but to put up with Russert (0+ / 0-)

as we don't get a vote in hiring him. He's doing what he's supposed to do. Suggesting that teachers give up pay. Like tax cuts for the rich, cutting public union benefits is the cure all for ills. He's doing his job well for his corporate overlords.
