.....but out of body sensations are caused by disruption, temporary in your case, of the part of the brain that "tells" you that "you" are sitting behind your eyes [reference].

Give me a good medical team, permission, and some electrodes, and I could take you right out of your body again whenever I pleased.

....but there are serious flaws and major disagreements among the proponents of "it's all in your brain" explanations of NDEs.  Persinger's helmet produces quite limited response; Blackwell's findings ignore much of the data.

        or an afterlife.

Of course, there are incomplete explanations of a great many things that were instead explained by god, until we figured those things out.  Evolution is one really good example.  Before the theory of evolution was put forward we had no real explanation of biological diversity other than "God did it" and then we did have a better explanation.

I'd add that saying "they're real" in regards to NDEs doesn't really cut it either, because I admit that the experience is real, I just disagree that there's any proof that there's an afterlife.

On the same note, what would be considered a disproof of an afterlife in this context?

The revolution will not be televised. But it will be blogged, a lot. Probably more so than is necessary.

    •  You need a medical team and electrodes to do (0+ / 0-)

what an orgasm could quite easily do?
Of course, you being a sage and all, I quite humbly disagree with your diagnosis. What I experienced cannot be so glibly explained away. But nice try.
