NO politician with half a brain will propose involuntarily confiscating guns from law-abiding gun owners. It has nothing to do with courage. It has to do with smart and effective policy making, which doesn't involve forcing law-abiding people to give up their property. Neither Republicans nor Democrats will engage in policy proposals that will spell doom for their careers.

The gun buyback is a terrific idea if the goal is to get guns off the street. Plus, its voluntary and provides a financial incentive.

But I do demand of our politicians that they tell us that. "We cannot pass meaningful legislation and we're sorry about that."

Rather than pass some bullshit law that does nothing.

Either it's confiscatory and restrictive of ownership and retro-active (like the rest of the civilized World, by the way) or it is bullshit.

To take your point as just as correct now as it was before these recent incidents which have changed some very conservative minds on this subject, admits a failure of government that must be baked into the American system.

Buybacks are bullshit. Buybacks are headlines and nothing beyond that.

It rubs the loofah on its skin or else it gets the falafel again.

I am not sure how we can move forward, though.
