  •  Ah yes, "collecting" (1+ / 0-)

Give me a break.  There's a million things a person can collect--why would so many of them collect Glocks, AR-15s, and Bushmasters??  Their rarity?  Aesthetics and fine craftsmanship?  Antique value?

They're killing tools.  Might as well be collecting fucking pipe bombs.

I guess we have to accept the availability of weapons with no legitimate use, that make killing dozens of people in less than a minute possible so these "real people" can collect their toys.  Nothing less will do.  Apparently.

What happened to collecting coins?  Stamps?  Cars?  Fishing lures?  Baseball cards?  Sports memorabilia?  Faberge eggs?  Beanie Babies?  Attractive antique guns with walnut stocks that lack the ability to fire dozens of rounds a minute?

I guess none of those make up for other, ahem, shortcomings like a wall full of assault rifles and glocks.

    •  Yes, firearms are designed to kill, (0+ / 0-)

and always have been. How does that suggest malice on the part of their collectors?

All you just did is mock gun ownership, flippantly dismiss that a weapon can be admired as both a machine of function and a work of art, and then suggest it is a result of some sort of sexual insecurity.

On any other subject, in any other place on this site that would be deemed fully worthy of a hiderate.

Not all guns.  The sooner the RKBA crowd figures out that not all guns are the same, the sooner it will be possible to have a productive discussion with them.

Might be possible, but I'm seriously doubting you're going to find much art in your average collection of Glocks, Bushmasters, and AR-15s.  It's a flimsy excuse for buying up these weapons with no real, legitimate use in mind, only paranoia, compensation, and a mentality that they are cool, manly toys that happen to double nicely as a political statement.

        I just may have.

        Oh yeah--this one:

        firearms are designed to kill
Just some of them are designed to kill game or a small number of people in a self-defense situation, others are designed to kill large numbers of human beings.  But, you've already demonstrated in a pile of comments that you can't or won't see a distinction.
