a fella on the beach was telling me bird and animal stories and I was holding my own, same topic, and we got to rare birds, he said they regularly see a Black Ibis on the creek in the summer..the creek is inland from Goleta Beach about 1 mile, Oak tree lined brushy creek that empties in to Goleta Slough, all manner of ducks there and White Tailed Kites and Shrikes and Marsh Hawks and Short Earred owls and all in and around the still open , for now, coastal area about 2 sq miles, shown shown here at the top there, concrete and dirt etc, but very birdy. The Goleta Beach Slough and outlet I regularly babble about is about the same distance west as that picture.

I looked up Black Ibis and found the Red Naped Ibis from India, now ya show me this one from SA, geez!

Very cool and I shall keep my oi peeled for the varmit in question....

Hah! I found it, the Glossy Ibis maybe, is Florida down to Tierra Del Fuego according to these people

and then searching for Glossy Ibis I found a sighting in Northern Calif , soooo...old news from me as usualas usual!

We saw lots of them when we were in Brazil last October.
