  •  Basis for questions of any new DHS Secretary (6+ / 0-)

There have been rumors of a new Sec of the Dept of Homeland Security.  This would seem to provide a basis for some interesting questions if we have any friends on whatever committee would vet that nomination.

The scientific uncertainty doesn't mean that climate change isn't actually happening.

      •  how could he be qualified and not know? (0+ / 0-)

One would think he would be conversant when american citizens are being targeted by somebody, while exercising their 1st amendment rights.
And if he doesn't know, wtf is he being nominated for...and not be briefed and conversant on current issues going into a congressional review?

Code Pink to DC for this, heh. Raise some hell, make the FBI have to deny they were targeting americans for targeted assassinations while we're at it!

Write yer dang congress people, make them ask the FBI wtf this all is about, otherwise it works as sloppy, maybe even intentional de facto terrorism BY the FBI.

"The FBI wants to apologize if anyone was alarmed by this redacted document."...where's Harry Shearer when you want him..

          •  killing us citizens might be considered tricky (0+ / 0-)

to legally do as dhs secy.
but some question about that report could be framed to get his comments and thoughts.
The level of airport screenings should be another question, what is the discretion that comes with the position and how does the candidates beliefs and experiences relate to that discretion.
I think that the redacted document is not referring to the FBI doing this, I think it was sloppy redacting, by who and why would be interesting...more than interesting, I think the dhs or fbi should have to clear that up.
A question about excessive secrecy might bring an interesting answer.

But you weren't really asking me anyway...

Work on it, you can do it :>

    •  a perfectly fine opportunity to ask him (0+ / 0-)

about this, if he hasn't read it he's disqualified right there, if he has put him on the spot.
Let him say he doesn't know anything, then at some further event ask again, 'and why not find out if American citizens are threatened with terrorism in the practice of peacefully expressing their Constitutionally protected first amendment rights?

remember LBJ: 'no but I want to hear him deny it' wasn't just for fun, it was politics.
