hernia.  I definitely know some of what you've been going through.  I'm going through some of it now.

    Here's my story.

Last 24th, heavily into the local OFA and Warren campaigns, I went in to my local hospital for a routine colonoscopy screening.  Long story sort, they punctured my colon.  I got an emergency colostomy and spent 8 days in the hospital, 2 in the icu. They told me it'd be 3+ months to let me heal, then another operation, then another 2 months of healing from that.  About 6 months with no work and no money.

Starting at about 3 weeks after surgery I got back to canvassing and leading & dispatching groups up to NH, running phone banks in MA, working rallies with Warren.  Nothing too physical, but a lot.

All during this time my post-operation hernia was getting worse.  Hernias are sometimes painful and worrisome, as they go in and out.  Then two days before the election I caught a cold.  We kept working and we won (!), but the cold turned into two weeks of coughing with a hernia.  Not a good thing, as the cough pushes the hernia out.  Awful.

Now I'm better, getting ready to get fixed in a week and a half.  It's been a long 4-month wait.  I really really want it to work.

That's my story.  There are other ways to tell it.  Good days, bad days.  How wonderful and generous are my friends.  My now frequent emotionality, new, spontaneous, and sometimes awkward.  A story to build on for the future.

May all go well for you, JT.  I hear of all sorts and all ages of people who get better.

how painful it must be to cough with a hernia. Yikes. Hope all goes well for you also.

Thing about the bag/stoma that's most annoying thus far is farting from my stomach, without warning nor control, in other people's presence. And mostly the wet, splatty sounding kind of farts. Disgusting. Kinda makes me want to be put and kept under until it's time for the reversal surgery.

Ds see human suffering and wonder what they can do to relieve it. Rs see human suffering and wonder how they can profit from it.
