    There's a sizable contingent of conservadems in the Massachusetts state legislature, larger than the number of Republicans. We're not about to turn into a "right to work" state; but there are plenty of fans of policies to stick it to teacher's unions, to bring back the death penalty, and to fight to the death over any proposed tax increase.

    So when we have Republican governors, overrides do happen, but they aren't weekly occurrences.

    Incidentally, the one person least likely to fall in line behind the Markey parade is Mike Capuano. Another solid, reliable liberal, who is probably pissed off at the sudden fait accompli. Mike's good at getting pissed off, and at putting that energy behind practical tactics, two things I like about him. I hope he falls in line as well, even though he's right in thinking he'd make a great Senator. A divisive primary has too good a chance to put Brown - whose approvals are still in positive territory - over the top. Neither of the two guys is a statewide name yet.
