    About that link..

    (next sentence)

"Nobody was suggesting he was uncaring; to a person, the advisors making the unsentimental point thought him decent.  They were talking about his capacity to set feelings aside when confronting daily decisions, the emotional buffer zone that sometimes make him seem aloof to people he didn't know well.
But hey, take a partial quote out of context from a political gossip book, you can makes the guy sound like a real bastidge.
    •  Hunter S. Thompson nailed it, as only he could... (7+ / 0-)
"Politics is a mean business, and when September rolls around in a presidential campaign, it gets mean on a level that is beyond most people's comprehension. The White House is the most powerful office in the world, and a lot of people will tell you that NOTHING is over the line when it comes down to winning or losing the presidency of the United States. Nobody is safe and nothing is sacred when the stakes finally get that high. It is the ultimate fast lane, and the people still on their feet in September are usually the meanest of the mean. The last train out of any station will not be full of nice guys."
--from Better Than Sex, by Hunter S. Thompson

Have you ever worked at a strategic level in a national political campaign?

or maybe it's that you need to be using the medication regimen of Thompson to understand whatever you're trying to say in that rebuttal.

Could it be you're saying that anyone soulless enough to win the presidency must be an amoral jerk?  Well then, congrats on finding a new "both sides" argument that equates Barack Obama to Richard Nixon and Andrew Johnson, much less Dubya Bush.

I didn't notice you actually address using an unattributed "one advisor described him" quote (and a partial one at that).

Unless perhaps by tossing out the "I've worked on a national campaign" card, you're admitting that you're just one of those 'meanest of the mean'?

It's still a BS ad-hominem, Mr. Hoity Toity Campaign Operative.

        •  That's a nasty, immature comment... (0+ / 0-)

...and miles beyond being just an ad hominem...but, it's okay...I'm used to that type of response around here (from a large handful of folks in this community, too).

          Happy New Year!

          •  "Hoity Toity" is nasty? (0+ / 0-)

Attacking a Democratic President for not being sufficiently liberal in your eyes.. are these just things you say as a member of the 'professional left' to make yourself feel better?
