    No one will stand up to the crazy people, except other crazy people.

    This is what happens when one major party's express agenda is to burn all public governance to the ground.

        There's TIME - months of it - to get good results for good people.

        Also, I strongly believe no deal is acceptable to Republicans: they like sputtering economies. They love lots of suffering people. They want lots of war and the poor to pay for it. They openly want public governance at all levels to up and die...and democracy along with it.

        What we are seeing is the logical outcome of a major party that is terrified of liberty and justice, dignity and prosperity for all.

        The Republican base has bought into the notion that everything, even their ability to feel proud about themselves, is zero sum.

        For them to feel happy, you - everyone else - must be afflicted, and many among them are happy to do the persecuting.

        But...laws are in the way. Regulators. Over fifty years of customary practices.

        To Democrats, the problem is we are lagging the rest of the civilized world.

        To Republicans, the problem is we are civilized at all.
