  •  The problem isn't American political thought. (6+ / 0-)

The public is on our side on almost everything.

The Public wanted Wall Street jailed and Main Street bailed out.

The Public wanted a new CCC, whenever they were asked.

The Public wants taxes on the rich.

The Public wants more green energy.

The Public wants to stop occupying Afghanistan.

There's nothing particularly wrong with American political thought.

    •  If that's true, then how have we ended up (0+ / 0-)

with the current composition of the House of Reps?

Each one of them was elected by a majority in his or her district.

The elevation of appearance over substance, of celebrity over character, of short term gains over lasting achievement displays a poverty of ambition. It distracts you from what's truly important. - Barack Obama

      •  51% of those who voted, voted for Democrats (0+ / 0-)

        in House races.

However, almost 40% of eligible voters didn't bother, and non-voters are farther to the left in their views on average.

They don't bother because they aren't in competitive districts, because they've got Blue-Dog shitbags on their ballot they won't support, because voting has been made very difficult for them, ect.
