  •  Compared to what it could have been... (20+ / 0-)

It wasn't that bad for me.  I didn't lose anything that couldn't be replaced.  I only lost power for two days and for the second of those two days my mom and I stayed by a family friend that did have power.  It wasn't exactly comfortable, but given her health (she's on dialysis and had open heart surgery in 2011) it was better than staying home (we're on the 6th floor of a six-floor building and she can't do stairs).

That compares to friends of mine who went without power for a week or longer, another friend who had a flooded first floor and his outdoor fixtures and furnishing washed away and plenty of other people that I don't know who had it much, much worse.  Yeah, a new car is expensive, but what's that compared to losing the house you've lived in for 20 or 30 years — the house that has your wedding pictures and those of your children growing up and those of you growing up?

Enacting our agenda requires winning elections. Oh, and me on Facebook and Twitter.
