  •  Wow and Thanks everyone (13+ / 0-)

I guess I'll try to move over here....

The comment up above about monkeys with guns seems to fit me: (I keep thinking if guns don't kill people does that mean defibribilators don't save them? ..) The monkey thing is better.

I' m just an armed monkey with a lot of holes in my own feet at this point....

    cheers

your profile says ex poet but I'm not so sure about that.

the poetry is all over your writing still.

      more newbie tips:

it's a good idea to comment in your own diary because the comment recommends you get (otherwise known as tips) add to your mojo (right now you are at mojo level one, out of five).

diary recommends also add to your mojo, but since it's harder to write a diary than to write a comment, you get mojo faster from your comment recommendations than your diary recommendations.

I'll try and keep up with it all. I usually avoid comment chat after I write a thing, but I am used to a lot more flame and attack stuff...

I only logged in to comment because I laughed out loud at your signature line. I'll try and give you credit when I shamelessly steal it down the road....

        •  thanks, but it's not original to me :-D (0+ / 0-)

on the other hand, i have not yet determined conclusively who said it first.

Some say Harry Truman said it first.  Tom Harkin's staff actually wrote to me several years ago to claim he said it first, but I doubt that because I think I remember it from childhood.  Hillary Clinton has been quoted as saying it on the campaign trail and Jennifer Granholm used it in her extended car metaphor at the 2012 Democratic National Convention.

So since I can't prove who said it, I use it without attribution, and now it is more closely associated on the internet with me than with anyone else.  But I didn't write it.  Wish I had.

Besides, it's such an obvious analogy, I'm sure more than one person thought of it over the years.

So steal away, and no need to give me credit.  Can't steal anything from me that isn't mine!
