    This is one of the reasons I identified in studying this phenomenon this year. Not only does it help with the boredom problem, but it also provides the "in-group" need for kids. Many young people want to be a part of a group and feel included. Many turned to gangs in the 1980s and early 1990s. Now, they can feel a part of a group online or in Call of Duty (or whatever). It provides the sense of belonging that many were finding in street gangs.
