    The petition info asks for a zip code to tell them "where you are."

    But it isn't "where you are" that matters--it is where you vote.

    Millions of Americans live abroad and vote in their last congressional district in the U.S. Many more millions are temporary away from their voting home.

    This may sound trivial, but over and over again I come across forms that equate zip code of the place where one votes with the place that one is. It generates a lot of confusion for either those collecting the data, or those giving it, when that's the assumption.

    During the campaign, I tried to volunteer, but it failed. The powers-that-be sent the information to the place where I vote, which is a few thousand miles away from the place I wanted to volunteer--which was a few hundred miles from where I live in Canada.
