    The 'j' is pronounced as an 'h'.

    It's a nickname from a job long ago when I had mostly Hispanic co-workers and we always gave each other nicknames. I had my hair dyed copper red at the time.

      I didn't know this until about 15 years ago. My daughter corrected me when I said fajitas with the unsilent j, let's say. Said it sounded like Virginias. LOL. So now, whenever I make fajitas, she'll say "mmm Virginias."
