your Dawn Chorus diary last Sunday ....

But a bird in the open never looks
Like its picture in the birdie books -
Or if it once did, it has changed its plumage,
And plunges you back into ignorant gloomage.
I lost my dear standard poodle, Tucker, on November 30, and spent Christmas Eve with my sister at the vet's as her standard poodle, Charley, crossed that (damned) Rainbow Bridge. As with your Kodachrome, both Tucker and Charley had lived their full standard poodle lives (too short) and, blessedly, it was very quick for each of them (i.e., we didn't struggle for months on end before making the Big Decision).

The loss of such wondrous friends plunged me into a partocularly painful "gloomage" over the holidays. I'm really, really, really wanting to move toward something more colorful, less sad.  Your diary helped me last week - thank you for that.

My wish for you and your husband is for you to find glimmers of plummage in your lives - when you're ready.

Out with the gloomage - in with the plumage!
