Colorado's CD-5 in Colorado Springs.  Where wingnuts reign supreme.  Except when a wildfire comes and burns tens of thousands of acres and more than 300 homes in a subdivision.  When that happens, you know damn well they're all in favor of government support.

    •  Isn't there a tiny bit of government spending (2+ / 0-)

      Going on in Colorado Springs?

And no, I'm not talking about subsidies to the ProRodeo Hall of Fame (which I still need to get to, but darn friends keep monopolizing all my time whenever I'm there!)

So if you get hit by a bus tonight, would you be satisfied with how you spent today, your last day on earth? Live like tomorrow is never guaranteed, because it's not. -- Me.

      •  The tiny bit is what is spent by the city. (3+ / 0-)

The massive amounts are what is funding the Air Force Academy, Cheyenne Mountain and the military base off the south end of the city.

I don't know about the ProRodeo Hall of Fame, but be sure and come to Denver for the 107th Stock Show and rodeo in another week or so.

The city can't afford to keep the lights on, the parks maintained or the police and fire (yes, fire!) units funded.

Oh, and there's probably money going to Focus on the Family because you have to support the good "Christian" charities with taxpayer dollars.

I was being snarky. (I need to work on my sarcasm, eh?) That whole town seems to be one big military installation employing citizens who complain about government spending.

Denver sounds good though. I haven't spent much time there. We usually just fly in and head south (or drive through on our way to outdoor adventures). I need to make time to explore Denver more next time.
