  •  You're right to point out Ron Kinds (1+ / 0-)

serious problems with his base on many issues.  He's really more Republican than Democrat on most issues.

Republicans have it easier statewide because they have a huge media presence throughout and the TM is very kind to them, generally ignoring their faults and praising even their propagandized memes.  Democrats not only have to fight the GOP, and the RW screetchers on the saturation of hate radio, but also have a media standing by ready and able to magnify any invented flaw against them.

And then there's the mega money that the GOP will haul in to saturate us in lying attack ads.  Sadly, most of the public continue to be fooled by them.

...and there's some speculation that he might do so despite not responding to a Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel inquiry about whether or not he was interested in a 2014 gubernatorial run, Mahlon Mitchell (or someone else associated with the 2011 protests) may run against Kind in the primary, and I could see a primary between Kind and an ultra-liberal challenger either drive a mile-wide divide in the WI Democratic party or embolden WI Democrats like the 2008 presidential primary did to national Democrats.

Think back to 2000...Republican Scott Klug decided not to run for a fifth term in Congress, and WI-2 became an open seat. Joe Wineke and Tammy Baldwin were the two front-runners for the Democratic nomination, and the WI GOP gamed the Democratic primary for Baldwin, yet Baldwin won the general election! Oh, and she just got elected to the U.S. Senate!

Elizabeth Warren on the Senate Banking Committee is a BFD!

that it will be done like it was for the US Senate.  No Democratic primary which left Baldwin use all her resources for the general election.  Fighting it out between Democratic candidates can get ugly (as the US Senate Republican primary clearly demonstrated).
