    Faggots. It was funny at times but ultimately didn't hold up very well.

    I've always wondered why Dancer From the Dance never became a movie; I've little doubt that someone, at some point has held the movie rights. It often been the case, particularly with widely-read gay novels; case in point being Patricia Nell Warren's The Front Runner. It predates most of the post-Stonewall novels, was hugely popular (the first gay-themed novel ever to make the New York Times best seller list) when it was published and was optioned almost immediately but to this day no movie has ever been made.

      By many rights it should have been made a long time ago, but we're still waiting.  

      Perceptions have shifted, too, quite a bit.  I think a film of The Front Runner would be a chance for some talented people to make a landmark film.  It would likely be the opening night feature at every LGBTQ film festival in the world, too.  And it would really piss off Jim Dobson.
