I don't have a lot of faith in the political system working in the present social context to adopt rational proposals to transition away from changing the climate. In my opinion, we need to change the social context so that rational transition will emerge as the critical component of a new social contract. That is, we have to Blockade. I'm tired of endlessly debating the science with people who are in denial. I'm tired of thinking through carefully constructed policy proposals that grinning politicians talk up during campaigns and abandon after elections. We have to Blockade. We have to force the issue into continuous public debate. Only then will a new social contract emerge in which ecology is treated as complementary to economy. We can't expect the same political process in the same social context to produce a different result. If the Blockade movement does not gain critical social mass to force a negotiation leading to a new social contract then I'm afraid we're headed to 4c warming.

Passive renunciation is not the whole of wisdom.
