    But that's not really necessary since in the end, it would eliminate the need for the primary plaintiff (and arguably, under derivative law principles, their entry might deny the plaintiff of standing--and nobody at AIG is going to let the company be seen as the primary plaintiff to be sure.)  All that is necessary is the leverage necessary to negotiate a settlement with the government that is favorable to AIG's financial interest.
