There are many people who play college football without a scholarship, either because they play at a Division III school that doesn't offer scholarships or because they choose to play football without a scholarship offer. Some people would rather play at a higher level and pay their own way than accept a scholarship at a lower level of competition.

You wouldn't want to play football, and that's fine, that's you're choice. But the compensation is far from insignificant.

What is the Boss to worker pay ratio at the level talked about in the cartoon ?

If Division I football players are slaves, then surely Division III players must be even more enslaved. Both participate voluntarily, both practice hard, both play hard, both run the risk of injury. Yet the Division III will pay student loan bills for years.

What is the boss to worker pay ratio in slavery?

Perhaps there needs to be some changed made in college athletics. But in no way, shape or form is it similar to slavery.
