  •  Senator, thank you for taking time (8+ / 0-)

to grace this site with your thoughtful and insightful comment.

I'm sorry that apparently some of our members have to resort to foul language in order to express their appreciation. Not that I don't resort to the same sort of language myself at times, but usually I don't thank people for their contributions in that manner.

And I usually try to watch my language when I am around people who deserve a great deal of respect for their principled stance on so many subjects that are important to the future of our country.

Please continue to grace us with your wisdom and eloquence.

There are only two types of Republicans: 1) racists; and 2) people who are willing to be associated with racists.

    •  If Democrats (10+ / 0-)

continue down the path of this austerity agenda, screwing the 99% while saying they are protecting them, and if they go forward with Simpson Bowles proposals and cut our earned benefits that we have paid into for decades (including an increase in the 80s that created a huge surplus and was designed to take care of the demographics that are now being used as an excuse)... and if they cut Medicare and raise ages rather than using our bargaining power with the huge for-profit health industry and drug industry... then the language that you see here today will seem oh so mild and tame.  There will be hell to pay when people realize how much they have been lied to.

Even after extraordinary propaganda efforts, some of them financed by billionaires like Pete Peterson and by Wall Street who is pushing the global austerity agenda like crazy... even after a years long media campaign... 80% of the country still says keep your damn hands off Social Security and Medicare.

If the Democrats continue down this path, civility will be the lowest of their priorities.  People who never normally would be radicalized will become radicalized.  And this party will be in tatters.

for people being rude to the one person who seems to be respected on "both sides" of the DK site?

Look, you and your buddies want to hurl insults at virtually everyone in your own diaries, that's your business.

This was a respected INDEPENDENT political figure who has often taken the time to explain his positions here and to advocate for many of the positions that you so fervently believe in.

There was no need for people to start foaming at the mouth.

He was being courteous to us. I know that is a foreign concept to many on this site, but really, is it that difficult?

        It's about courtesy.

And, by the way, you might actually be surprised at the amount of abuse that the American people will tolerate.

        Sad, but true.

Not everybody believes in the New World Order, the mythical construct that seems to fascinate so many of you and your friends (what's that you say? you don't believe in "The NWO", only the "concept"? What's the difference? It's all make-believe paranoid fantasies).

Now see what you have done? I was trying to be polite and here I am participating in your hijack of this diary.... tut, tut, tut. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

            (my emphasis this time)

            But good try....

He didn't have to resort to non-courteous language to make his point. Why should it be introduced in the comments?

It is akin to insulting, though, you're right.
