protection and representation of the middle class and others struggling since the 1970s in this country.  For years we have been ignored while big business and corporations have taken advantage of their wealth to buy congress people and senators.

Up until about 1970 is when our politicians stopped talking about the people as a whole, stopped talking about poverty as problem in our country, they ignored our Viet Nam vets as I remember it.  Our politicians lost touch with, us the people, and it was all about business and corporations, especially in 1980s.  The politicians also lost touch with how discrimination effected employment and caused lower wages and homelessness for many Americans.  So civil rights in this country were also ignored.  How could any poor person afford a lawyer to make sure they had their rights?  How many corporations could afford attorneys to make sure their butts were covered legally?  A lot.

So many of us have been on our own trying to survive with failing employment, recession after recession, failing programs to helped us survive and secure our life.  By 2008 the evidence of the people being left on their own living in a severely broken system was evident.

Social and political policies fixes will help, but it doesn't do enough to mend how broken our system has become.  I blame most of this on Republicans, but also Democrats that also let our labor base be shipped out to workers overseas.  It isn't just about the jobs being shipped out over seas, it is about the changing of our diversity and the fact that there was once jobs for all different kinds of people and now that is just one of the last rungs being taken out of the ladder of social mobility.
