After all that Republican "belly aching" and "boo-hooing" after the 2012 elections and they haven't changed a bit.

The party of "less government" is living up to its own expectations of government..getting nothing done!

Sometime back read a biography of Chinggis Khan (I think that was the spelling accepted at the time) that suggested that when compared with other rulers at the time he wasn't really that bad. First major world leader to support universal public education and religious tolerance. Very supportive of anyone with any skills who wanted to be part of his empire. Yeah he'd slaughter anyone who resisted, but gave very favorable terms to anyone who surrendered without a fight...which wasn't always the case with many other world leaders of the time.

And, of course, he is rumored to have liked twinkies....

France...well let's not forget America owes its freedom to France, whether we like it or not.

famously respected all religions, just for the record.

His successors didn't (hence Chanukah) but as far as I know from some pretty detailed reading, you are correct regarding  Alexander. I think the book I was reading about Temujin may have glossed over that, but it also may have taken into account the relatively chauvinist Hellenistic view of culture vs the more accepting views of the Mongols. In other words, Alexander may have been okay with tolerance but as I recall it generated push back from other Greeks/Macedonians.
