    I was writing this diary fast and furious, like I usually do.  And when I wrote "about as real as Libarace" I felt the tug of your question, but kept going, knowing it wasn't an entirely right or wrong reference, but needing to move on with my thoughts.

    IMO, Liberace was not "real" as presented to me growing up, in that he was a mask of who he really was, covered by glitter and showmanship. One really had no idea of who he really was, and of course, it wasn't a time he could just come out and say he was gay.

    But also, it's fair to say, that glitter part of him was real. That joy in going overboard and blowing it out was real.

    So all in all, if I were to re-write this diary, I'd take the time to find a different analogy.
