...stops at the workplace door where it can't impact others negatively. I've dealt with religious diversity laws pretty extensively in the corp world and I'm no expert but think it's pretty much settled law. I don't think he has a case.

pounce on that person very hard.

This happened a few years back when a "very devout" individual took the "War on Christmas" too seriously.  During the persons break would walk around the work place playing Christmas music on the violin...  (BTW was a good violinist).

But it took 3 levels up to give the person the ultimatum, either the violin and no job or put it down and stop the music.

My work place as these religions present, but we don't preach/convert/proselytize/put down/belittle/etc..

      Christian
      Jewish
      Muslim
      Hindu
      Buddhist
      Wiccan
      Druid
      Babalu
      Shinto
and one person who is into the old Norse.

As you can see we are VERY diverse.  Speaking any religioneese is sorely frowned upon.

In my experiences people talked and learned about each other's religions and cultures with respect. A small example: I first confirmed that no accommodations were necessary to accommodate Muslim prayers but then established that the breast feeding room would also be scheduled as a prayer room during specific hours and the "users" shared it easily. In a 24x7x365 workplace it's great to have non Christians available to work on Christmas and foreign employees for Thanksgiving. Embracing diversity doesn't mean it's taboo to speak of one's religion. Mature people know when the line is crossed. Where a staff is not so mature then a different set of rules needs to be put in place. The lines just can't be crossed.

        Asatru.

The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.

it may be very important to you, but the rest of us don't want to hear the details.
