  •  me? 30+ years, 3 continents between (7+ / 0-)

No recollection, nada, of what it felt like to be me before that.

But, hell, three continents, three languages, three DEGREES, feels like three LIFETIMES....and I'm working on a book about it, too. Well, not about "it", mostly about the three decades, three continents, three languages and three degrees between.

Silver lining?Three lifetimes in one. Yeah!

    Poetic justice?
    We shall see.

I'm tired of the violence, period, in this society.

As a community college prof, I'm scared to go to work tomorrow, after the incident in TX.

As a victim of violent crime, I'm TIRED of violence.
Because it does NOT go way. It changes you. It changes your life. Your career. Your everything.

Even your memory of who you were before.
    The violence.
    No matter what the form.
    Gunshot.
    Rape.
"Domestic" abuse (is it supposed to hurt less by virtue of its "domesticity"? Right)
    And then
you're supposed to get up and
    go to work
    at a community college
    after the gun violence
    erupted
    at a community college
    in the library
(where you sought, and actually FOUND
    refuge)
    from the violence
    the violence
    violation
    of your
    vocation
    your
    vacation/s
    your everything.

    Vacate
    the
    violence.

    Enough
    is
    enough.

    Because
    once you have been
    victimized by violence
    in whatever form,
    it is always
    there.

    Here.
    There.
    Everywhere.

    Whatever you do
    is
    never enough.

    Enough
    is
    enough.
    Enough.
