        talk about isn't going to happen.  How do you propose that "markets serving the people" help us as a society provide for citizens as they pass through the stages of of life?  

        That senior citizens supported their parents and grandparents before them, and now rely on younger generations to support them is not 'consumerism" it's the social compact.  It was established with FDR's New Deal and expanded with Johnson's Great Society programs.  This is the system we have, and it works. The only question is will we allow conservatives appeal to selfish interests to dismantle it.

          there has to be a better way then the current system.
          You aren't "saving" social security by having kids.
          What you are doing is creating a bigger carbon footprint, and your kids will need homes, cars, more plasic crap to add to the alreadly bursting landfills.
          Parents in developing nations create more environment problems then undeveloped nations with a higher population BECAUSE of our bullshit buy buy buy consumerist lifestyle.
