    forbid the serving of alcohol to a "visibly intoxicated" patron. These days, three beers is enough to put most adult men over the limit for impairment, even though they would probably not be visibly drunk to the extent required by the law, which varies widely from state to state. The offshoot is that servers are seldom held liable, except in the most egregious of cases.

    Drunk driving is down largely because of increased punishment of drunk drivers and, IMHO just as importantly, the current social stigma against drunk driving.
