  •  The Mrs. Grog... (15+ / 0-)

So sorry to hear about Mrs. Grog and her pain issues while not even knowing what she has (or doesn't) her symptoms sounds awfully familiar to me. I have something called RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) and throw in some RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) which may or may not be related.

In any event, my own pain management was long, intense and a huge struggle. We wrestled with steroid injections, physical therapy, large amounts of odd & strange pills coupled with some big time pain meds; all leading to the possibility of an internally placed neurostimulator.

It was a very rough period of my life and the pain was intense prompting me to begin learning to use a cane every now and then when I wasn't bedridden. But luckily, everything eventually quieted down enough for me to now tackle this with Advil and an occasional pain med.

If your wife needs to talk to someone who has gone through something similar (at least treatment wise), please have her contact me on my page (seems safe enough). My name on FB is "B. Black McDonald" and once there she may contact me in private if she likes.

I have developed a very soft shoulder and far too much experience with this sort of pain not to put it to some use. Everything would be confidential if she chooses to speak further. And here's hoping her pain eases, her ability to sit a success and that she will remain surgery free! Grog, give your misses a big ole hug...sounds as if she could really use one about now.

Very different issues tho.  She had a ruptured L4-L5 disc which has had two discectomies (to essentially remove all the disc material).  She also has an ugly, bulging L5-S1 disc.

She didn't go the spinal fusion route for a variety of reasons.  It now appears stenosis has set in possibly at the L4-L5 level.  Plus, it's uncertain if the longstanding bulge at L5-S1 is impacting all of this.
