    My thought for a while now is that it's treasonous—but that's not right because treason is specifically about aiding another country against your country's interests.

    But it's not sedition, either, because sedition (according to Webster's) involves "incitement of resistance or insurrection against lawful authority." These guys aren't rabble-rousing; they're grandstanding without regard for the consequences of their actions.

    Anyway, I agree with you that what these idiots are doing should be, basically, against the law. As you say, when "public servants" work to "undermine the effectiveness of government" and the behavior is tolerated, there's something very, very wrong.
