  •  Oh dear, the dreaded Part D! (6+ / 0-)

Yeah, private insurers. I can never figure out what my prescriptions are going to cost from year to year either, which is sad because we have one of those deals where you can withhold from your paycheck pre-tax dollars to pay for uncovered medical expenses, but anything you haven't used for that purpose at the end of the year, you lose. You have to say how much you want to withhold from each check in a year before you find out how much the prescriptions are going to cost that year, so you kind of have to lowball it.

For a long time, they were one of two amounts, and then they were one of three amounts, but now the plan has changed entirely and they are all over the map; some are a percentage, and some are still a flat amount.

I am sorry indeed that you got hit with that increase, though. I wish I could tell your pharmtender to put your deductible on my tab! Don't they know they are depriving you of lifegiving breakfasts??

...that every November I'm deluged with junk mail from a number of potential Part D insurers begging me to transfer my coverage to them. The info they send is nearly always incomprehensible as to real-world consequences, so I tend to just throw them all in the recycle bin.

Insurance is a con that prefers its victims to remain as ignorant as possible. Too bad it's still a necessary evil. :: mumble grumble ::
