  •  I am not suggesting it can't be done (0+ / 0-)

I am looking at history and the reality of political money and media that we currently face and positing that it is going to be a generational effort to achieve.

That neither says nor implies that we shouldn't do it. It says and implies that we need to start now and keep doing it. We can't give up if we don't get laws passed in this Congress.

Also not saying we should postpone anything sane or democratic. But it is not realistic to suppose that we're going to walk into this Congress and even pass the assault weapons ban that we had earlier and Bush allowed to expire. They have already made themselves clear on that and they, the Republicans currently have the power to derail anything we might propose. Like it or not, that is reality.

So what? Start working now to change the public perception about the 2nd amendment and trying to get change made.

Is it incremental? Maybe it is. Progress often is incremental. So is any journey you start - it goes a step at a time.

I didn't say anything, if you will actually read my post, about not doing anything now. I said that it's going to take a long and difficult time to achieve what we want and need. That makes action now even more imperative, because it can't happen until we start.
