  •  The guns there has been a run on are the same (0+ / 0-)

or similar to the guns of the AWB.
And reinstating the AWB has been proposed.

    •  It's true I don't have the statistics. If you do, (0+ / 0-)

      I'd appreciate a link.

I may have been mistaken as the TV news showed people purchasing hand guns.

And I am on a sloooow phone, so I'm not even going to try.
Damn battery would probably die before I get google pulled up. :(

It would make sence that a run on AWB firearms would lead to higher sales on all firearms, but I think that speaks more about consumerism than paranoia

        •  I just saw a NYT story. Apparently (0+ / 0-)

the semi-automatic rifles are preferred. A pic accompanying the story shows ordinary rifles still on display, but empty racks where the "military style" rifles were.

This link is probably too much for your phone, but just in case:

A Forbes article entitled "What the Left Won't Tell You About the Boom in US Gun Sales," says that there has been a ten year trend in rising gun sales. The author feels that the left has been "disingenuous" about paranoia on the right in light of this trend partly because Nov. 2012 gun sales were only "slightly less" than record Dec. 2012 gun sales. "The only other November to break 1.5 million NICS checks was November of 2008—when President Obama won the presidency." This tells me that there was at least some paranoia in at least on month, but that's may just be me.

A HuffPo story demonstrates more of a direct correlation between events and gun sales.

I just realized that statistics may be thin on the ground as the NRA has successfully lobbied against the collection of statistics of actual gun sales as well as gun injuries and deaths, by the government, rather than the indirect statistic of background checks.
