  •  I truly believe he's serious this time. (6+ / 0-)

Did you watch President Obama in the aftermath of the Newtown tragedy?

Did you hear how he described it as the worst day of his presidency?

He's angry.  Really angry.  And that's a good thing.

We're going to get something done this time.  Something truly positive.  I guarantee it.

    •  How will you measure truly positive? (0+ / 0-)

A 10 round limit per magazine or 7?

No more guns named AR-15 allowed, but guns named Colt Sporters still available?

Also, the President didn't seem very angry about the gun-walking schemes that were operating under his nose. Why is he so angry now?

      •  Because I think what happened in Newtown... (1+ / 0-)

completely shook him to the core.

I fully recognize that if we were to give him a grade on gun control in his first term, it would unequivocally be a big fat "F".  But I have a very strong sense that this is a different President on this issue going forward.

What would be truly positive?  Mandatory background checks for all gun purchases.  Improved data sharing and tougher penalties for lying on background application checks.  Limit on high-capacity magazines to 10 rounds or fewer.  Showing American citizens, and particularly politicians, that the NRA is an extremist organization that can be taken on without undue fear.

Let's see what happens today and in the near future.
