  •  They especially need to hear from (9+ / 0-)

    responsible gun owners.

    •  I do not think the NRA wants to hear from (16+ / 0-)

responsible gun owners. They represent the manufacturers and have for a long time. Congress needs to hear from responsible gun owners and I think they will. The vote in NY makes me have hope.

if a habitat is flooded, the improvement for target fishes increases by an infinite percentage...because a habitat suitability index that is even a tiny fraction of 1 is still infinitely higher than zero, which is the suitability of dry land to fishes.

    •  Yes, I had timid hopes that RKBA would step (1+ / 0-)

into that role, but alas, from what I've seen, they remain as anti-regulation as ever.

Prior to Sandy Hook, RKBA seemed a voice of sanity for balancing 2nd Amendment with current realities. Sadly, ever since the tragedy, they've circled the wagons and bought into the NRA's "ONOZ OMG" distraction-fest rather than show integrity and stick to their guns (so to speak) as an alternative voice to the gross intrancegence of NRA.

This squandered opportunity has led to more pie fights and grudge-building than dialog and working towards answers. While I don't expect to agree with everyone here (that would be boring), I do have reasonable expectations that we (on both sides) focus on pertainant facts and avoid ad hom attacks. The entrenchment of RBKA into Fortress-NRA has led too many to merely label their pugnacious challenges as the results of crazed minds, diagnosed as ludicrously as Frist's Schiavo diagnosis.

A winning campaign? You didn't build that...

        •  Actually, I never saw them as a voice for sanity. (0+ / 0-)

I think they have always been exactly like the NRA, in spite of their protestations that they never have and never will be part of the NRA.  It matters little that you belong or don't belong to the organization if you are spouting their lines all over the place.
