  •  yes, but she was (9+ / 0-)

just one parent, and he was a poor black boy, not as mrsgoo pointed out of the Newtown children, an upper-middle-class white boy, which (sadly) tends to catch the public imagination for longer periods.

And his was one case, Newtown was horrible times the multiples.

Grievous as it is, it seems that in this country terrible things have to happen over and over and over again before the public wakes up enough to bring politically powerful slimy dishonest organizations to heel.

We are often so identified with whatever thoughts we may be having that we don’t realize the thoughts are a commentary on reality, and not reality itself. -- Gangaji

And I will repeat it again......

Newtown was horrible times the multiples.
Ain't nobody except the dimmest among us does not think this was a game changer. 20 dead babies in an elementary school has a way of clarifying our thinking. Now some of us think that giving guns to teachers is the answer. Some of us do not. Some of us think that getting military guns off the shelves of WalMart will help. Some of us do not. DH and I are gun owners who believe that nobody needs an AR15 or the extensive magazines that go along with them. Just look at what happened in MY stupid state. 16yr kid pissed at being bullied, brought a shotgun into class (oh hey, whyTF did nobody notice he was toting a 12 GA??) He shot the kid bullying him. Then an unarmed teacher came to the rescue. This is a good compilation of stories http://www.turnto23.com/...

if a habitat is flooded, the improvement for target fishes increases by an infinite percentage...because a habitat suitability index that is even a tiny fraction of 1 is still infinitely higher than zero, which is the suitability of dry land to fishes.
