    regular people households having lost something like 40% of their wealth in the wake of the Bush economic devastation.  Sounds about right to me.  I've chewed through 60k or so of savings keeping myself afloat the last 5 years and lost maybe 40k of house value, which sucks down much of the equity I'd built up in my house.  I'd say even if I could sell my house these days, my net worth has dropped from 150k or so down to maybe 50k over the last decade.
